KY and @ngerti Hukum.id Have a Casual Talk about the Role of the Community in Clean Justice

Jakarta (Judicial Commission) – The Judicial Commission (KY) and @ngerti Hukum.id have a casual conversation about the role of society in realizing a clean and authoritative judiciary live on the Youtube channel @ngerti Hukum.id, Thursday (27/5).

KY Spokesperson Miko Ginting, who was a resource person in the online discussion, conveyed the importance of KY’s presence in judicial power in Indonesia. KY is mandated by the constitution to exercise two main powers, namely

propose the appointment of candidates for Supreme Court Justices and ad hoc judges at the Supreme Court (MA) and exercise other authorities in the context of maintaining and upholding the honor, dignity and behavior of judges.

To optimize its authority in maintaining and upholding the honor, dignity and behavior of judges, Miko emphasized that the Judicial Commission not only supervises judges, but also carries out advocating for judges whose honor is suspected to have been degraded. This authority is regulated in KY Law No. 18 of 2011 and KY Regulation No. 8 of 2013.

“The advocating steps taken by the KY judges can be in the form of legal steps or other steps, such as mediation, conciliation, and so on. For example, by summoning a judge who is suspected of being humiliated with a party who is suspected of being demeaning, so that a solution can be taken,” said Miko.

Miko realized that in guarding the judiciary so that it could be run independently and independently as a prerequisite for the realization of a fair trial, Miko said that KY could not run alone. Therefore, it is necessary to cooperate with other institutions, universities, professional organizations and most importantly the involvement of all elements of society to become KY partners in realizing this common goal.

“We each have a responsibility to carry out surveillance. If there are allegations of violations of ethics and behavior of judges, or allegations of judges whose honor is humiliated, they can be submitted to KY,” concluded Miko. (KY/Halimah/Festy)
