The composition of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic medal standings has changed after Indonesia won the gold medal.

The gold medal was just obtained by Indonesia from the badminton sport at the Tokyo Olympics through the women’s doubles Greysia Poli / Apriyani Rahayu.

Greysia/Apriyani defeated Chen Qing Chen/Jia Yi Fan (China) in the final match of the women’s doubles at the Tokyo Olympics at Field 1 Musashino Forest Sport Plaza, Monday (2/8/2021) morning.

They won two straight games over Chen/Jia with a score of 21-19, 21-5 within 55 minutes.

The final results of the women’s doubles at the Tokyo Olympics ensured that Greysia/Apriyani made history.

Greysia/Apriyani became the first Indonesian women’s doubles to win an Olympic gold medal.

Prior to this, Indonesia’s women’s doubles achievement in the Olympics was only up to the quarter-finals, namely in Rio 2016 through the pair Greysia Polii/Nitya Krishinda Maheswari.

With the addition of gold from Greysia/Apriyani, Indonesia make it to the 34th place. Previously they occupied the 57th position.

The Red and White Team has now collected a total of four medals, with details of one gold, one silver and two bronzes.

Previously, Indonesia had won three medals from the weightlifting sport through Eko Yuli Irawan, Windy Cantika Aisah, and Rahmat Erwin Abdullah.

Windy Cantika (49 kg for women) and Rahmat Erwin (73 kg for men) managed to donate bronze medals for Indonesia.

Meanwhile, Eko Yuli Irawan, who stepped down to men’s 61 kg class, won a silver medal.
